For example, when processing a credit card application request, the processing staff scans the application form together with the associated documents through the standard scanner that supports either TWAIN and ISIS standards. Utilizing OCR technology, ecWIS will capture relevant data from the images and pass the data directly to the legacy systems for processing. ecWIS supports auto-indexing feature which automatically reads the bar codes or pre-printed reference numbers on the documents and indexes the documents by batch. ecWIS supports more than 20 types of image formats such as TIFF, JPG, BMP, GIF, etc. Using the image, the processing staff can check for discrepancies, completeness, and the accuracy of the data against the hardcopy documents before sending the data for processing. There are also a variety of tools that one can use to manipulate and enhance the images such as stamps, notepads, highlights, shapes, voice recorder and text boxes etc. ecWIS supports more than 25 types of stamps such as "Assigned", "Approved", "Important", etc. With ecWIS, everything is well managed, efficient and effective.

ecWIS provides a graphical interface for defining or modifying the flow of the business processes. Using this GUI workflow designer, users can adapt to business changes and operation restructuring swiftly without any programming effort. The effective date of the process flow is selectable, and it will not affect the daily operation. Further, the administration staff can define the turnaround time of an individual process, if the threshold is reached, and it will automatically generate an alert to the officer-in-charge.

Delivering or receiving piles of document is not needed. Besides, ecWIS provides a sophisticated search engine for locating the stored document. In real life, documents get easily misfiled and sometimes the outdated documents are resided in warehouse, which is several miles away.

 
Improved customer services

ecWIS boosts the service quality by shortening the time cycle of serving the customers' needs. For example, if a credit card holder reports card lost and requests for an immediate replacement before his next flight, the call center staff handles the call and the supervisor will be alerted for approval. After the approval process, a request is automatically routed to the card embossing department, and in parallel, a message will be routed to the mailing department for pick up and delivery of the replacement card to the cardholder.
